Guarana NRG Energy Booster Tablets

  • Provides an energetic lift
  • Helps you feel refreshed
  • Gentle on digestive system & helps concentration
OVERVIEW
If you need an extra energy boost, Herbalife guarana tablets have been formulated to improve your energy levels.
This natural, gentle herb has been used for centuries by Amazon Indians to give a spirited and refreshing feeling.

Here is some useful information about uses for Guarana.

WHAT IS GUARANA?

Guarana is a natural herbal supplement and energy booster that will help you dance the night away. Its refreshing properties have been enshrined in the folklore and customs of ancient Amazon tribes and have been medically recognised in the 21st Century.

The seed is about the size of a pea, looks like a brown pebble and has a slightly bitter taste.
When dried and ground to a powder, it is mixed into drinks.
When consumed in its natural state, guarana powder provides a synergetic delivery of many compounds and trace elements to pleasantly and beneficially affect your total body system.

Pure guarana seed is efficiently digested so that its compounds and trace elements are rapidly distributed to the metabolism, providing an energetic boost with numerous health benefits. For example, this herbal tonic has traditionally been used to relieve various ailments such as stress and nervous tension, weight control, headaches and hangovers, and even menstrual pain.

The effects of guarana alkaloids and compounds are not the same as in coffee and other caffeine products. Pure guarana seed is a powerful substance and you only need a small serving to obtain optimum results.
"Don't take it if you want to sleep, but if you want to dance..." Elle magazine.

HISTORY

It has a long history of traditional use by the Amazonian Indians of South America, mainly Brazilians Indians.
The plant was discovered by the Maues-Sateres tribe and used as a general tonic.
Guarana means "secret eyes" and was so named because the fruit resembles a human eye.
The medical effects of pure guarana seed powder are well documented from both folklore and research in the 21st Century.
The stimulant effects of this rain forest plant were recognised in the western world during the late 1980s. As a result of observational studies, the beneficial effects of Guarana have become the subject of scientific research.

Anecdotal evidence suggests the supplementary benefits of guarana include relief of mild anxiety, stress and nervous tension, weight control, temporary relief from headaches, and relief from menstrual pain. It's little wonder the Amazon Indians worshipped it as a "gift from the gods".
If it is used as an appetite suppressant for weight loss, it should be used in conjunction with a balanced low calorie diet.
People suffering cardiac disorders should use the same caution when using pure guarana seed as with other caffeine-based products such as tea, coffee and chocolate.

USES

  • Herbal Tonic
  • Helps relieve mild anxiety, stress and nervous tension
  • Temporary relief from headaches
  • Maintains stamina and physical endurance
  • Relief of menstrual pain
  • Herbal diuretic
  • Herbal anti-diarrhoeal
  • Appetite suppressant: assists weight control in conjunction with a balanced low calorie diet

Guarana has been classified as a tonic and a coolant for tropical conditions. The medicinal effects are believed to result from the high content of guaranine (caffeine), associated tannin.
It has been suggested that the long-lasting effects occur because of the other components of the seeds.
Future research may show that various saponins also play an important part in the herb's pharmacology.
Case studies have indicated that it acts in a different way from caffeine and produces none of the undesirable side-effects.
Results of a trial comparing guarana and caffeine found that guarana had a strong and consistent positive effect on reported disposition and performance.

Guarana is useful for mild forms of diarrhea because it contains high tannin levels. Results of ongoing research will help define guarana's medicinal role in the future.

It should only be used by adults and should be stored below 30C.
A teaspoon of natural Guarana contains 160 milligrams of caffeine, placing it between tea and strong coffee.
It is strongly recommended that no more than 4 grams (1 full teaspoon) of natural Guarana is consumed at any one time.
It is recommended that you should try one third of a teaspoon and work your way up or down from there depending on the effect.
Small framed people need to consume less pure powdered guarana than large framed people to enjoy the same benefits.

WHEN NOT TO USE GUARANA

USE IN SPORTS

Pure guarana powder or in tablet or capsule form, is an ideal herb to maintain stamina and ward off fatigue and tiredness.
Pure guarana acts as a coolant and a stimulant to the central nervous system and metabolism.
We have received many enquiries from sports men and women regarding the use of guarana in sports.
The most common question is whether it is legal to use during sporting events.
Our understanding is that it is not classified as a prohibited substance by any sporting authority, however, professional athletes should note that pure powdered seed contains an average 4% caffeine (as guaranine).
Most sport disciplines place a limit on the caffeine content allowed during competitive events and athletes should therefore be aware of how much they consume.

According to the Olympic Committee Anti-Doping Code: "For caffeine the definition of a positive is a concentration in urine greater than 12 micrograms per millilitre".
According to the Australian Drugs in Sport handbook: "Caffeine is a stimulant which is banned when in large amounts".

Recent studies show the amount of caffeine an athlete would need to take in to return a positive test result can be different from person to person. Caffeine is banned when the concentration in athlete's urine is more than 12 micrograms per millilitre. An athlete would need to ingest approximately 500 milligrams of caffeine over a short period of time to return a positive test result for caffeine.

In most cases, the social use of caffeine should not be a problem (e.g. a can of cola, a chocolate bar or a cup of coffee).
The actual amount an athlete can ingest without going over the limit though, will vary from person to person and depend on factors such as body size and metabolic rate.
It may also be very different for the same athlete on different occasions. Caffeine use before events should therefore be minimal to avoid problems.
